Carlos Santana Gets Engaged To Drummer Onstage
Three years after divorce, Carlos Santana is giving marriage another try. The guitar legend got engaged to drummer Cindy Blackman during his Friday night concert in Tinley Park, Illinois at the Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. Four songs into the show and right after her drum solo on Santana's "Corazon Espinado," the guitarist popped the question. Blackman said yes, the couple kissed, and the Chicago audience went wild. Santana says in a statement, quote, "Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other. Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share."
Santana was previously married to Deborah Santana. The couple's 34-year-marriage came to an end in 2007 when she filed for divorce from the musician citing "irreconcilable differences." Santana and his new fiancée are currently two months into the first leg of the band's Universal Tone Tour 2010. They have eight shows planned in Las Vegas at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino before heading overseas for a European tour. Blackman is a rock and jazz drummer who has previously worked with Lenny Kravitz.
